HURRICANE WATCH What does that mean? Less than 36 hrs to prepare for a threat You should: 1.) Secure windows 2.) 3-day supply of drinking water 3.) Food you don’t have to refrigerate 3.) First aid supplies 4.) Portable NOAA weather radio 5.) Basic tools and a flashlight 6.) Cell phone charged 7.) Extra batteries 8.) Candles or lamps with fuel, matches 9.) Fill Auto tank to full 10.) Prescription(s)

HURRICANE WARNING What does that mean? Arrival is in less than 24 hrs and watch the news List of items you need to do: 1.) Lower antennas and anchor or bring inside loose outside objects such as garbage cans and awnings 2.) Check mooring lines of boats in water. Do not remain on a boat during a hurricane 3.) Board up or shutter large windows securely and draw drapes across windows and doors
Hurricane Warning
If you remain at home 1.) Don't go out during the brief calm since wind speeds can increase dramatically in seconds 2.) Stay away from windows and glass doors and move furniture away from exposed doors and windows 3.) Stay on the downwind side of house 4.) If your home has an "inside" room, stay there during the height of the hurricane 4.) Keep the radio or television tuned for information from official sources
If you must relocate 1.) Be certain there is a safe refuge to accommodate you and do not wait until the last minute to leave 2.) Take along survival supplies such as a first-aid kit, water and prescription medicine 3.) Keep important papers with you at all times 4.) Make sure you have the name and phone number of your insurance company or agent 5.) Take warm, protective clothing and remember to lock windows and doors
After the hurricane, dangers remain! The storm may have passed, but new dangers lurk.
1.) Beware of outdoor hazards like loose or dangling power lines, and report them immediately to the proper authority 2.) Walk or drive cautiously, washouts may weaken road and bridge structures 3.) In the event of a power outage, throw out food that may be spoiled. 4.) Boil municipal water before drinking until you have been told it is safe.
